The cover page of this issue is dedicated to one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, the 'Kumbh Mela' which has been held at Prayagraj this year. The Prayag Kumbh Mela is held after every 12 years, the one held this year being the 'Ardh Kumbh Mela', held after 6 years from the immediate last one in 2013. The next Kumbh Mela shall be held in 2025 and 'Ardh Kumbh Mela' in 2031. The complete event is a sum of multicolourful chants and prayers. The 'Triveni Sangam' which represents the confluence of the three rivers of India, Yamuna, Ganga and Saraswati, becomes crowded with spiritual enthusiasts and 'sadhus' who are said to have penanced throughout their lives. The Kumbh 2019 shall be held for a span of around 55 days which commenced on January 15 and shall stretch to March 4, creating an atmosphere of 'tranquility amidst everything else'.
On another note, Guwahatian, on behalf of every sane and patriotic Indian, condemn the Pulwama attacks on the Indian CRPF personnels by the terrorists. It is the duty of every countryman to stand with the brothers who guard us along and off the borders. The magazine also thank each and every individual who has contributed to the cause of supporting the families and kins of the martyred soldiers. Anyone willing to donate to the cause can visit the link: https://bharatkeveer.gov.in. We know that we can never make up the void they have left, but, we can at least support their dear ones in this time of crisis.
Salute to all the soldiers of the country. We sleep because you stand strong.
